Franson Civil Engineers evaluated the hydropower potential of a waterline crossing the client’s property located in the mouth of Crab Creek Canyon in Spanish Fork Canyon. A new 200-kilowatt plant was evaluated. We prepared and submitted a FERC application for pipeline exemption including all environmental compliance. A conduit exemption was received from FERC. We completed a preliminary design of the hydropower plant and related facilities, including transmission. The owner canceled the project due to lack of funding.
The project is currently being revisited for the South Utah Valley Electric Service District (SESD). We are assisting SESD with FERC coordination, project planning, agency coordination, funding acquisition, design, and construction management.
