Weber River Diversion Structure

FCE was retained by the South Weber Irrigation Company to assist in the rehabilitation of an aging diversion on the Weber River. Professional engineering services include: pipeline design, fish screen design, fish passage facilities, and NEPA compliance. Diversion and intake designs from both sides of Weber River was also performed.

The project was funded by a compilation of irrigation companies, Weber Basin Water Conservancy District, Trout Unlimited, State of Utah, and Reclamation under the Water for America initiative.

FCE prepared design drawings and specifications, which included hydraulic and concrete design of a rehabilitated diversion dam structure, two separate fish screen structures, a fish bypass channel to allow sensitive species to travel upstream, and pipelines to connect to existing pipe systems.

Construction review services were performed. During construction many obstacles had to be overcome due to extremely rare weather events and extreme high spring run-off flows in 2011.
